Miranda Smith Homecare was established in 1999 by Miranda Smith, Managing Director and is the longest-running private home care agency in New Zealand.
Miranda began working in community care 26 years ago after gaining experience with a similar agency in the UK. She introduced the model to New Zealand, establishing one of the country’s first private home care services with a clear vision—to set the standard for professional, home-based care.
Her dedication to quality, dignity, and genuine support has made Miranda Smith Homecare one of the most trusted names in the industry. We continue to build on that legacy today.

In 2009, Miranda returned to Hawke’s Bay with her husband Campbell and their three sons—Max, Gus, and Jimi—to be closer to family.
Alongside Miranda Smith Homecare, she also owns Karitane®, a specialist nanny agency focused on supporting mothers and their babies with trusted, nurturing care.

This team consists of a clinical and resource coordinator, a homecare manager, and on-call team, all available to talk to directly if you have any concerns or emergencies.
